Class Descriptions
We ask a lot of our performance dogs, both mentally and physically. In order to become a great team, our dogs must believe in us and we must believe in them. Our dogs must be able to read our cues and react at lightening speed without wondering what we want ”this” time. In order to help our dogs do what no human could possibly ever do, I believe it is important to teach an extremely clear and consistent set of cues. That is what you will learn in my classes.
Back to Basics
Whether you are already competing or not, this class will focus on specific agility skills and drills. This is good for both beginner dogs who want to get started on the right paw with specific, focused training and those already competing who realize there are gaps in their foundation training. This class is for those who want to be serious about agility (of course, while having fun:-)
Basic Obedience
Whether you're training your puppy or dog to be your new best friend or your ultimate performance dog, these are the basic obedience skills you will need in order to have a happy and successful relationship with your canine companion. Class will include basic obedience cues of sit, down, stay, come and a release word as well as concepts in learning, including training in drive and when to add control. There will be an official AKC CGC test on the last class.
Foundation Skills
These are the basic building blocks for everything in dog sports. We will work on building speed from the start, motivation, targeting, motion under feet, proprioception skills, jump training, directional cues, agility ground work (introduction to handling), focus and self control, in addition to introduction to agility obstacles.
Intermediate Agility
In this class for dogs who are already competing, we put together short sequences and teach the dog to perform the obstacles independently with both lateral and front/rear distance. We will work on handling, including perfecting crosses and the dog's understanding. We will also build the skill set of the dog, including 270, pinwheel, box, back of jump, tight turns and other challenging skills.
Agility For Fun
This is a good intro class if you aren't sure how serious you want to get about agility. We will introduce obstacles and basic agility skills.
Hollywood Dog Stars
In this class you will learn the basic behaviors required for your dog to work in television, film or print. Besides the basic skills, we will also work on lots of fun tricks. This is a great bonding experience for you and your dog. For more info, please check out: www.HollywoodDogStars.com
