INTERMEDIATE DOG SKILLS
Learning Agility Equipment

Once you have done the initial foundation ground work with your dog you will be ready to start teaching your dog how to negotiate the equipment. We will not rush the dog over the equipment in a sloppy manner that you will be sorry for later, having to re-train. This is a very systematic approach to learning the equipment with speed and accuracy right from the start. When your dog is ready, we will put together short sequences and teach the dog to perform the obstacles independently with both lateral and front/rear distance.

Class will include:

Working with One Jump (low height) Round T’s (tire and tunnel)
Teeter games Table games
Contact Training (basics of running contacts or a stop on the contact)
Learning to Weave (dogs will not actually “weave” until growth plates are closed).
Independent Obstacle Performance

DOGGY & ME FITNESS TRAINING
Fitness Training for both Dog and Handler

This class will be so much fun for both you and your pooch. We’ll work on strength, cardio and stretching for both of you, not to mention lots of bonding and socializing (also for both of you).

This class will get you and your dog in shape for agility or any other sport you’re interested in. In addition to general fitness training we’ll also work on sport specific and dog specific behaviors such as rear end awareness exercises (for the dog), variable surface walking, loose leash walking, backing up for coordination, working on stairs and learning left and right.

Whether you want to lose weight, build strength, socialize your dog, teach your dog proprioception (body coordination) skills, get more limber or just have fun bonding with your dog, you will love this class. Lots of moral support and coaching to help you get or stay in shape!

We meet at the very west end of Camino de Estrella in Dana Point. There is an ocean lookout point and we will start our class there.

We ask a lot of our performance dogs, both mentally and physically. In order to become a great team our dogs must believe in us and we must believe in them. Our dogs must be able to read our cues and react at lightening speed without wondering what we want this time. In order to help our dogs do what no human could possibly ever do I believe it is important to teach an extremely clear and consistent set of handling cues. That is what you will learn in my agility classes.
